Taurarua / Okahu

Installation, 2018

Water collected locally from Taurarua (Judges Bay) and Okahu Bay, has been brought into a space where we so rarely engage with the natural materials beyond the concrete walls and floors of this warehouse/studio building. Consisting of solar showers, water pumps, pvc tubing and Sistema trays, each self-regulating system sprinkles, collects and recycles its own water. Each system is running water from a specific place, and that water will be returned to its source after the exhibition. The raining of collected water from the shower heads creates a chance to encounter and engage with our local resources and geographic contexts once again, transforming the cold walls of the studio into a cacophony of sprinkling water.
